A recent ward boundary review resulted in the formation of the new Waverley West ward, which now includes the neighbourhoods of Whyte Ridge and Linden Ridge. There are many students from the Neighbourhoods of Bridgwater that attend Whyte Ridge schools, so there is good logic to becoming part of the Waverley West ward. Many years ago I lived on Bessboro St. and recall the feeling of Whyte Ridge being far away from everything and everyone! But that is no longer the case as much residential and commercial development has built up on all three sides of Whyte Ridge.
Prior to being elected, when I was the Winnipeg Trails Coordinator Executive Director, I also worked with the Whyte Ridge Community Centre board to route the Trans Canada Trail through the fields. I recently biked through Scurfield Park and around Don Smith Park and believe both could benefit from some upgrades. I am also very aware of Kenaston Blvd. traffic concerns and recent crime issues around the Community Centre and the need to find solutions. I look forward to door knocking and hearing issues and concerns of residents.
PLEASE fill out the survey on this page and tell me what ISSUES or PROJECTS in Whyte Ridge YOU want to see ACTION on in next four years. I will provide a summary of submissions and what I’ve heard ‘at the door’ for you to review in early October.
