Prairie Pointe is a new neighbourhood with residents now moving in. Just recently, the Prairie Pointe Residents Group formed! I know there is a keen desire by residents to see a park in the neighbourhood. As the park is the responsibility of the developer, I’ve been in discussions to find out a timeline and will update residents when I know more.
Transit service to all neighbourhoods in South West Winnipeg is being analyzed in detail in preparation for the opening of the new Southwest Transitway in Spring of 2020. The Transit Department indicates they will be conducting a series of open houses this fall to gather input on new routes linking to the Transitway. I will be actively promoting details of the open houses when I know more.
Prairie Pointe is also the furthest neighbourhood from the Pembina and Waverley Fire / Paramedics Stations. Construction of a new Fire Hall is a priority for the entire Waverley West area – currently the City is conducting a Standards of Response Coverage study and a report will be released late Fall identifying areas of need.
While the neighbourhood is still new, I am sure there are issues and concerns residents have and look forward to hearing them when door knocking in the coming weeks.
PLEASE fill out the survey on this page and tell me what ISSUES or PROJECTS in Prairie Pointe YOU want to see ACTION on in next four years. I will provide a summary of submissions and what I’ve heard ‘at the door’ for you to review in early October.
